I just love the ACS
« on: July 14, 2009, 05:03:00 AM »
Had the extreme pleasure of meeting up with a few like minded friends yesterday. Here in the UK decent bows are rare as hens teeth, ACS even more so, but we had pretty much the whole range at our disposal.

Mine are first (1pc 52" 47#@28" Cocobolo) and fourth (3pc 62" 45#@28" Zebrawood) from the left. The others 47"@28" Cocobolo with RC handle, 41#@28" Bubinga and a 44#@28" Cocobolo.

That wasn't even the full set as Tony has another couple. I would think between the three of us and also my wife who couldn't make it we have half the A&H ACS bows currently in the UK.

I hadn't shot the RC riser before, I was so impressed I went straight home and bought one.

Andy...

I have the 14" standard in Birdseye maple 47#, also have a RC on order with them. Super customer service, and top notch bows. What more can you ask for? I don't think I'll shoot much else. Cant wait to see their recurve.

Regards

Latest instalment of the UK ACS owners club  ;)

These were just the ones we were shooting at a 3D competition, we have a few more and Tony wasn't there and he has a few.

The family is also going to grow soon as Wendy and I have 2 of the new short riser versions on order.

I just picked up an OL Adcock ACS CX and after the TBW shoot at Moses Lake I now want another or two...  Fastest and smoothest LB I have ever shot. Love it,  it is a 1PC.  Now my question is this to you A&H owners,  how do their bows compare to OL's?

That picture contains pretty much the whole range of ACS bows, O.L Adcock, Adcock built A&H and A&H post Adcock.

From Left to Right :

A&H ST 59#
A&H RC 47#
A&H RC 47#
O.L Adcock 43#
A&H RC 47#
A&H ST 41#
A&H ST 45#
Adcock built A&H 46#

5 of those bows are or have been mine at some point, including all the Adcock built ones.

They are different, but only very slightly. The limbs on the Adcock original are super thin, on the one hand that means less mass, but it is only marginally faster than the equivalent A&H.

We also have a 1pc, again I imported it and sold it to one of the other guys. It is the best shooting bow I have ever owned, somebody once described it as anti-shock, we have all shot the best bows around and thought they were shock free the 1pc takes that to a totally new level. But at 56" it didn't have the same raw speed and power as the longer 3pc and that's why it was not for me (that and the fact I got a VERY special Widow PTFII from the trade).

I prefer A&H.
If it's in your way, move it.

I don't think it is so much about difference as it is about avaliability.  H

THe availability was why I asked the question.  I am very impressed with my 1 PC OL Adcock, it is 64" and 57@28,  even with my 30" draw it is smooth and very very fast.  The no hand shock is amazing.  I was at the TBW Moses Lake shoot this past weekend and everyone I shot with was amazed by the speed and flat trajectory.  I had just gotten it so I didn't shoot it till after the competition,  just for the fun rounds later.  I am interested in a lighter draw weight ACS bow for 3D and small game hunting,  hence my question of the comparison with A&H.  Appreciate any and all inputs!
