Always cut from the inside out, exacto knive works well or a safety razor and straight edge. Try and cut only deep enough to cut through leather\\skin.Flemish? String

Unstring bow, weave through twists. Did'nt know you had them critters in Idaho. I hunted there twice never seen one.  :bigsmyl:

Hehe......Brent, no Roos here. I got this piece of fur from Wolfman Jeff. I am gonna trya nd make a few silencers from it then ship it to somebody else who might like a chunk.

Oh, not a flemish string.....so could be interesting.

Cut fur into about 2" by 2" strip.  Thin leather down if needed.  Apply contact cement to skin side. duh right.  Wait a minute.  Fold over.  Place in string.  Perfect looking every time.

If ya got a vise, I stick a razor knife in the vise, (you could use just the blade), and pull the hide, (hair side down) against the blade towards you, while pulling out, just a little to the sides while your pulling.
Unstring bow, seperate in half the string, slip in the end of your silencer, then wrap around the outside of the string till you get to the other end, seperate bow string in half again and slip other end of silencer in that. Grap string above and below silencer and give a quick jerk, helps lock it in, sorta. Be sure you wrap the silencer in the same direction your string wraps are.

Flemish twist or endless loop.....it doesn't matter.

Place a black springsteel "paper clamp" on the string where you want to put the fur strip then.....

1)untwist the string and seperate into 2 bundles.

2)Insert one end of the fur strip between the bundles. (about 1/4")

3)wrap the fur strip around the string in the direction the string will be twisted, and insert the end 1/4" between the bundles.

4)retwist the string in the direction the fur strip is wrapped.

5)repeat process for other fur strip.

6)restring your bow,the tension on the string will make the fur strip wrap tightly around the string.

Hope this helps.....

I'm a givin' it a whirl----I'm not using a flemish string, so it's not like I have twisted "strands". Brother Egg---hell yes, come on up!

Ok, I'm gonna do a little cutting. I'm hoping to salvage enough of this for another ganger to use--it's beautiful fur.
