Kohannah makes a nice longbow for the money as well.  You will not deal with better folks than Vince at Mohawk or Bob at Kohannah.  For the record my Mohawk was the quietest bow I have never heard.  Plenty fast too.  :goldtooth:

If you can get to a trditional shoot, there`s always venders that have bows for sell. They`ll let you try them out.Good way to get the feel of differant ones.I got a 49# Bob Lee t/d longbow. It has no hand shock at all.And shoots real nice.I`m still trying to get use to the lower #.My Super Kodiak that i had was alot faster. But then it was 6# heavier.Went down in # due to shoulder problems. But the Bob Lee t/d longbow is a good choice.

Bob Lee makes two great recurves. There's no way I could call a BL "longbow" a longbow. All he did was use the same recurve riser and reflex the limbs a tad less. It's more a hybrid than any bow out there. Sorry. Really. But I had to say it.    :D  Please note that I did say and mean that they are two great bows.    :D

I almost said what Rob said but I hope he was joking when he said these posts might not be allowed. These "debates" are part of the fun and common in all sports. What's the harm? Don't read or post if you don't like them.

I like the traditional straight limb longbows by  John McDonald "Big River" best with Steve Turay's Northern Mist longbows close behind.

I have shot the Mowhawk's, Liberty's, Dwyer's and others that have a little R/D to them with a bit wider and not quite as deep of limb core and they are nice too but I just prefer the narrow, deep core design of the more traditional designs.

Any Northern Mist LB, Steve builds 3 straight limb Hill style bows and 2 with a little R/D. I've got 3 of them, they are all pleasure to shoot.

it's (these kinda topics) not about 'harm', and it's surely nothing about debates.

it's about a subject that's subjective at best and all yer gonna get is second hand opinions and folks espousing what *they* think is good, better or best - but i've typed about all that a few posts ago.

the only redeeming notion is that subjective topics can be both amusing and a good way to waste time rapping about something to do with trad bowhunting.  :D

mohawks are the best i have shot, very quiet, smooth, plenty fast, very forgiving.they love heavy arrows.seems to me they dont really live up to their potential until you load a heavy arrow on em then look out..my new one is 66" 60 @ 30 shoots a 650 grain arrow 165 fps which in my opinion is more than fast enough to down an elk and thats all i'm worried about.get two mohawks for the price of one of the higher end bows..ask me mohawk is the higher end. GREAT BOWS VINCE.

Sapphire Hawk is the smoothest fastest longbow I have ever had the pleasure of shooting....give him a look see.  You will NOT be disappointed.  Gotta be some reason you don't see used ones for sale all over the place
I humbly follow in the learned footsteps of those who precede me.
