I would certainly respect him more if he made his own arrows.   :knothead:        ;)    :p    :D

Maybe he just wants some of Chris' luck to carry with him in his quiver. 5" four-fletch...that IS a whole lot of feather!

I was putzing around this winter with 5.5" four fletch. Dropped a bit after 30 yards, but worked just fine with what I asked of it. Course, the arrows were 800-grains, so that may have had something to do with it too...

Thank you Doctari. I hope Ken has some ideas about red barred feathers now. He has had a look at some great arrows from you all. good job.
I should say that the arrows shown are not of my makeing, but from some talented friends. Pluck yew being one. I will build my own but they always turn out the same. some stain(maybe) and three white feathers.

I *like* those self-nocked arrows Two Tracks with the silk wrappings!  Those are sswweeeeettttttt!

What kind of wood shafts did you use for those?  Did you make your own jig for the self-nocks or a commercially available one?

AND tell us about the self-bow in the background!

The self nocked arrows are from a good friend in Canada.3/8" poplar shaft,34" long. All done by hand. The bow is from another friend in Canada that has been making bows for a long time. it is an English Longbow 79" 80#@30". The wood is osage that has some "curl" to it, Tip to tip. Thanks, Chuck.

Thanks for the feedback Chuck!

That curled osage looks *good*, but 80# is closin' in on a test of manhood!

I've always felt red feathers made reading sign a little more difficult on the arrow...not a huge deal... but enough to make me NOT use red fletching.

I might agree with you Ray. I made some nice arrows ten or so years ago and they had some red stain on the shaft(full length). I never got a pass thru so the white fletch mattered not. Feathers will be one thing. a red shaft is out for me.
I will try to get a full draw pic on the 80lb'r It is an awesome looking hunk a wood. Hits hard.
Sorry Ken, It went off beat a bit. hope you enjoyed All the photos.
