testimonial on footing carbons

WOW! Over the last couple of months I've been experimenting with carbons. I was given some to try and enjoyed the flight and FOC I could get with them. I purchased some low budget carbons (Carbon express predator 2 shafts). They flew great but I had trouble splitting the ends on any hard impacts. I found Pac's post on making a bomb proof stumping arrow and boy does it work. A fellow tradganger volunteered to send me some shafts to use for footing. I put a dozen arrows together per Pac's instructions and can't break one. I went to a 3-d shoot and fed two arrows to the same 4inch diameter oak. These were both dead on impact where the arrow bounced straight back. I was totally amazed that the arrows were no worse for wear. Footing carbons is like magic. I definitely recommend it if you're having trouble with splitting the ends of carbon shafts. WOW!

Glad they are working for you. This week I had a insert come out after hitting a 2x6 on my backstop. The arrow was fine but when I pulled on it to get it out of the wood the insert came out. No big deal I used pliers to get the head and insert out of the 2x6 then I just reglued it and now it is as good as new.

They're the cat's pyjamas, aren't they?
To take it to the extreme, the other day I clobbered a steel target
at a trad shoot with a 1225 grain aluminium-footed
fibreglass shaft. Burst the sidewall
of the footing sleeve and destroyed the shaft, as I
suspected it would...but that ringing KLANG
was worth it all.
