I am prity sure, with most any recurve that it is about 4 inches shorter, but i am not completely possitive.

Four for a recurve, three for a longbow.

I appreciate it, but that's not always the case.

AMO/ATA says 3" shorter for longbow or recurve, the old "rule of thumb" says 3" shorter for longbows, 4" shorter for recurves, but there's plenty of bows that don't follow either rule.  I like to find out for sure before I make a string, but I haven't had any luck contacting this particular customer before I make his string.

Chad,
Haven't talked to you in a long time! I make my strings for my Palmer 4 inches shorter and adjust the flemish string accordingly.  As you know there's a lot of stretch with B-50.

This is off of the package for my spare string for my Palmer Recurve from Mike. This is a Flemish spliced bowstring.

AMO    60"
actual string length     56"
String material     TS+
# of strands     20
crown serving     .022
loop size     16/12
brace height     7 3/8"
Hope this helps.

My 60" recurve takes a 57" string and my 64" longbow takes a 60" string. Never just assume.

Yes, I agree with Curveman. I took it that Chad was asking for "Whats the rule for Palmer recurves" and not a particular bow. Those are only the specs of a spare string Mike Palmer sent me for mine. In most cases you will have to twist to adjust or fine tune.

That's what I was looking for--thanks!

Curveman, that is why I always try to get the actual string length, rather than the bow length.
