Fieldtesting my new Firefly and Black Widow
« on: July 22, 2009, 07:38:00 PM »
I have started this season with buying a new longbow and a recurve.
After much searching and wondering my decision was a Firefly longbow from Jim Jones with extra set of limbs and wow what a bowyer  :archer:

With a healthy dose of madness and bad memory, life`s a wonderful journey

I had a chance to buy a firefly in 2006 at our local state shoot and I let my uncle talk me out of it because the bows were unheard of  :knothead:  .  I hadn't been into trad for very long and I didn't know any better.  I did end up buying a very nice used Hummingbird from Sipsey River that year.  Don't get me wrong I love the Hummingbird and John is a great guy to deal with but I'll never be able to get a new Firefly for that price again  :banghead:  .  Having shot one I can say they are great bows.

Very nice. I cant speak for the fire fly but my PAS V is the smoothest bow i have ever drawn. My ASC/CX is a close second.

I shoot both a Firefly LB and a BW 'curve.  They are both the same wt. at 31" draw.  I can shoot the same arrow set-up out of both.  I know the eye can mislead and I do not have a chrono, but I think they shoot very similar speeds and it would not surprise me if the FF actually shoots faster.
