Powerbond removal?

Anyway to remove inserts from arrows attached with Bohning Powerbond? I'm guessing you can't heat the stuff up, but I'll try anything so long as it works...

I don't know if heating it will work for powerbond, but you can try.

I think if you insert a FP and heat it up with a ligher or small torch, the heat will transfer into the insert and break it loose. I have never tried this on powerbond but have used it with good success on other like types of adhesives.

Just read in a catalog that Powerbond is "Heat Reversible"...Sooooo...Put in a field point and heat ONLY the point on the stove or with a propane match...Then pull it out with pliers...

Alright...guess I'll have to give it a try. Shafts are the usual low-grade carbons you find pre-fletched in Walmart anyways, so what could it hurt?

Powerbond says it is heat-revrsible,I take a field point and heat the field point.Then pull straight out,do not try to rotate the insert just pull straight out.That is what has worked for me.

I tried it on some gold tips and it pulled some fibers out with the insert.

Heat will damage carbon and sometimes the resins that hold them together.

Heat tip slowly and keep checking if the point breaks loose easily. I have removed many inserts glued in with powerbond. Just pull the insert out straight by pulling the field point or you will mess up the carbon shaft. I like to use the big 250 grain screw in point.

Also do not twist the point clockwise with the plyers, the softened shaft will break due to the compression of the field tip on the Hit system.

un-screw the point out a little bit, first; and then heat. Keeps some heat off the shaft.
