Removing the vanes

How in the world am I too remove the vanes from some carbon arrows? I just need to fletch them for shooting from my longbow, and they are currently set up for a wheelie bow. I really don't want to destroy the shafts.

Its real easy. I take a dull serated knife and strip the vanes or feathers off. Then I take the smooth part of the blade(dull) and scrape off the excess glue. Then re-fletch. Its easy after you do a few.

All statements above sound right to me...Did it just like that...Then I put on an arrow wrap...Used regular Fletch-Tite or Fletch-Tite Platinum and never had any problems...

Heh......being in Idaho, I reckon I might be able to find a potato peeler around here someplace!

 And I am planning on some wraps, so this ought to work great.

Snap-knife...1001 uses, including removing old vanes/feathers. Trust me, the thin blade really helps...

I have a vane stripping tool that really does the job.  Runs about $30, but worth every cent...

I use a snap knife,cut it close the the shaft.Then I take a bic cigarette lighter and run it over the base.The low heat won't hurt the shaft but will make the rest of the vane soft as butter for easy removal.Then I wipe the shaft with acetone to remove any residue that is left.
