My first knife

Well after see all the knifes here on the gang and reading about how you guys are making them, I thought I would give it a try. I when to the local flea market and picked up 4 12" Nicholson files. I annealed one in my wood stove. Then cut it out with a dremal tool and finished shaped it with a disc/belt sander. Drill the pin holes then put it back in my wood stove until it was glowing orange and quenched it in some cooking oil. Tempered it at 230 C for two hours in my oven and then let it air cool. Pulled a chuck of fire wood out of the pile that had some nice color. Shaped it and attached it with some epoxy and brass pins. It is a local hard wood that is all I know. Sharpened it up in my Lansky and man did this thing take an edge. It is hair popping sharp. Took some scrap leather I had and maded a quick sheath for it. Let me know what you think! I learned alot from this project so hopefully the next one will turn out better.

Some people don't screw around on their first attempt, your first attempt looks like you've been at it a while! Especially the sheath.

Tippit- There has been alot of blood. One of the leasons learned is to wrap the blade when working on the handle. Haha
Thank you for the nice word everyone!
