Last October, I was relentlessly hunting a big buck who lived in a small patch of cover out in the middle of a cornfield. I had him right under my stand one day, but he offered nothing other than a quartering too shot, which I declined. Saw him a few days later from another nearby stand. Then the farmers took the corn out and all the deer vacated due to the lack of cover. I ended up taking two good bucks during November in a different area. I've been looking for him all spring, and finally saw him last night in a bean field. This area holds very few deer. He did not grow much from last year, but he is bigger. I cannot wait for October!
