cresting paints

Hello all. I was curious what are the preferred kind of paints for cresting arrows? I am interested in the types one can typically get at local hobby shops rather than the "professional" variety sold through archery stores. thanks,
Tom.

I prefer Humbrol model paints over Testors. I've had bad luck with Testors smearing. Humbrol is the premier model paint anyway.

I'm not a pro at it, but I use acrylics from Walmart or Michaels. Put a coat of water based poly on top. Cheap and tons of colors.

I found some Humbrol paints at a locally owned toy/hobby shop. They sell a lot of models and trains. Great selection of colors that I didn't see in the Testors. They seem to all be matte or satin finish. I guess it doesn't matter because there is going to be 3 or 4 coats of poly over them.

I've never used anything but Testors, with good results.

Wait til the Testors is fully dry and it will be no problem. I spray the final coat on over the cresting.
