I rarely disagree with what George says, but I sure do this time. Here's why:
I tune for perfection, because
I am imperfect. My belief is, the better my bow and arrow combination is tuned, the less effect my little mistakes will have.
If I'm pulling on a deer, and short myself 1/4" or 1/2" of draw length because I'm cold, or excited, or whatever, tuning becomes much more critical. A "just a little bit stiff" arrow becomes a horrid, clanging, beast that won't fly where I want it.
Tuning without silencers on your string is a good way to end up with an arrow that's a little too stiff in the end. Been there, done that!
Still love those October days dawning, George!
