PBS Youth Hunt update
« on: August 17, 2009, 08:11:00 PM »
Hello all!!!
Eariler today I got home after spending the weekend up Logan Canyon, Utah with the Youth from the PBS Youth Hunt.
As of Sunday evening, one of the Youth had gotten a Cow Elk, and others were seeing a few.

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

This is "California" telling us how big that first elk he saw was!!!

Youth learning and making their own armguards!

Annnnnnnnd if I remember correctly this is the Young Man the got the first elk!
It was really a great opportunity to be able to go up share the campfire and spend time with the Youth, Old Friends, and New ones also!!!

Very cool Tim!

Thanks for your time spent helping to pass on the tradition. (I'm sure you had a tough time forcing yourself to go to Elk camp!)  :bigsmyl:    :wavey:    :campfire:

It is fantastic to see so many PBS members taking part in this adventure on so many levels.  There are mentors, camp helpers, camp cook, organizers (Guy Perkins and Rich Roskelley), officers that approved the applications, donors of items for each hunt participant (Angelo Christiano of Bison Gear Packs and Rod Bremer of Columbia River Knife and Tool) among others, camp teachers such as Tim, but most of all, all of the members and non members that took part in the raffles, auctions, etc. that enabled PBS to send these youths on this opportunity of a lifetime.  Looking forward to hearing more about the hunt/camp and even more than that, looking forward to the dividends this will repay bowhunting in the future.

Kudos, Tim, and Guy and all the other UT crew.  This is a big undertaking, and well worth the efforts!   Can't wait to read the stories.

I posted my son's photos on the PBS site because he was hunting with a non-traditional bow, although it was so old that it was a novelty.....
