Job's gonna RUIN my hunting season!
« on: August 17, 2009, 11:47:00 PM »
NOT!!!!!

Not very directly archery related but I just gotta crow one time real loud.... After 2 months of no work, I got a solid job offer with pay real close to what I was making before.  No more unemployment for this guy.

Now, to keep it archery related and get back to the point of the title, the bummer is that I won't have any vacation during the rut this year.  Oh well, I'll still have weekends.

I was only about 3 weeks away from having to start selling stuff.  You know, important things like bows, guns and other toys to make the house payment.

I've also gotta add, thank you to all here.  Tradgang was a major stress reliever during a tough time.  I think I spent more time here and posted more replies in the past two months than in the past two years.

Now, if I can just get used to driving 73 miles each way to work....

Aw, who cares?????  I GOT THE JOB!!!!
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Dave,

You'll get plenty of venison with a 150 mile round trip...

Great news about the job!  Being a weekend warrior beats the unemployment line every time.  Good luck

Dang Steve O, I hope you're not psychic or somethin'.  I'll be driving between Kansas City and Topeka and if ya don't know, it's pretty prime deer country all the way.  Sure hope I don't get a deer in my lap at 70 mph.

Glad to hear you got the job Dave. This must have been the one you were talking about at Mojam.
Bummer it will mess with deer season but that's why they call it "work"...
Drive carefully Amigo.

Good for you Dave!  I went through that over a year ago.  Sold every last stinkin bow and ended up with a job 72 miles each way right after I sold my beloved Morrison Cheyenne!  Sold my canoes, kayaks, bows, and tree stands.  I managed to land on my feet again this year by taking a job closer to home that pays for my kids' college and lots of hunting time!

Congats on the job and to bad about hunting season, we should have been born with a silver spoon so not to worry about hosue payments and such things. LOL

congrats on the job. I am in the same boat. I have been laid off since January and doing little odd jobs to pay the bills. Now a month before the season , I just had my first interview in 7 months.

It's sad, but while in the interview, I kept thinking about having hunting season off for the first time in 25 years. I hope I get the job, but I had plans, BIG plans.
