I have always had a hard time shooting longbows, just dont do that well with them. I shot a buds savanah the other day, beautiful bow, just all over the place. A local guy called  and wanted a recurve, had a Bear Montana #55 to trade. I really wasnt interested, but shot the bow and my first 5 shots at 20 yds went into a 5" group in the kill zone on my deer target! I couldnt believe it. I moved back to 25 and put 2 more in the group. Anyway, shoots great, and I traded with the guy. I have been working on form a lot this year since haveing shoulder surgery, maybe that is one of the reasons, but couldnt shoot the savanah, which feels a lot better to me. Any thouhts/experiences on these bows, tips? Thanks, Sam.

Everything that I've read about them has been positive, with the exception of the earlier models having a blocky grip. Most of the guys that I've read have taken a rasp to them.

PS-Thanks for the sharpening job on my knifes. You did a bang up job on them.

I had one a few years ago. Really liked the way it shot myself. Was the first longbow I shot well too. Good Luck!

I've heard everything from "it's a good starter longbow", "they're a good low end longbow", to "they're great for the price"  blah, blah, but from what I've seen they're hard to beat anyway you look at it.  As a bowyer I try to promote my own stuff, but the Bear Montana, Martin stick, and a few others (I can't think of the names), are all great performers no matter what.  I think you'll grow attached to it quick.

I had one last fall and really liked it. Shot it great also. I bought another bow and had to sell the Montana. Otherwise, I'd still have it. It was also 55#@28". I highly recommend them to anyone.

There was a fellow on here recently who got a gift of around a thousand dollars from his wife to purchase a custom bow. He took the money and purchased.....you guessed it, a Bear Montana longbow! He used the rest of the money to buy a GPS and some other hunting supplies. I thought it was a rather cool story.

I have one and I love it! I'll never sell this bow! It shoots great, packs a punch, no hand shock and quiet as a church mouse! Great all around bow, worth every penny and then some!
