Pigs In The Parlor!
« on: September 03, 2009, 11:58:00 AM »
I went for a little walk on my place yest to look for sign and do a little stumpin.  I found a few tracks in the sandy road and then later in a muddy spot that you could not place your hand on without touching a track.  But these were not deer tracks, they were pig tracks, of varying sizes!  Not a big deal for some folks but it is for me.  I love to hunt pigs!  And this is the 1st time I have ever seen sign on my place.  Only once has a neighbor had sign, but my wife did see some cross the road as she drove home one night about a 1/4 mile from the house.

I then hear my bloodhound bawl not 100 yards behind me and out come a nice sounder like a freight train.  2 or 3 larger ones with 8 or 9
30lbders.  When Saddie gets close to me I call and stop her but stopping her was easier than holding her.  I had to make a leash out of my belt.

I managed to get out 100 pounds of corn in some likely places and even sat a stand this morning with no luck.

I seem to be the only one that is happy about this.  Deidre was not happy to see them nor was my cousin who lives beside us glad to hear the news.  He is worried about his kids and afraid they will run off the deer and my wife is worried about the dogs.  I guess if I had kids I may be leary but dogs take care of themselves and we are not killing any deer here anyway.  Heck, I wish when I was a kid there were hogs arround to hunt!

MAN I LOVE HUNTING HOGS!

Don't worry about running off the deer. Do worry about them tearing up your garden & yard. Quick breeders so get started.

Good luck!

I love hunting hogs too but I'm glad they are not on our farm. I will gladly travel to hog hunt. They are too destructive.

Be sure and show us pictures.

We live in the woods and the only farming here is pine trees or natural gas!

It just stopped raining and I am about to go make a stalk!
