Jesse's first deer
« on: September 03, 2009, 01:07:00 PM »

I thought I would share this as I love to read all the stories of our young men and women enjoying the great outdoors and their big game success.
Jesse shot his first deer on Saturday with a bow that he made, from a tree that he found and cut down ,  WOW!
As some of you may remember Jesse got a bad case of the jitters last winter hunting for Javelina with Curtis Kellar down in TX and missed a shot.
Well no jitters this time till after the shot, he made a perfect shot from his 45# vine maple bow and followed up the trail to his first deer, great job Jesse , your dad is proud buddy!

That is awesome Ted!!! Congrats to both of you!      :clapper:    :clapper:
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Fantastic!!!!  That is an accomplishment of the highest level.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

He chopped down the tree he made his bow out of, and then killed a deer with it!? That's true bowhunting right there.  :D
