Deer Down in KY!
« on: September 05, 2009, 09:50:00 PM »
No not me. A buddy of mine  I got into trad about 2months ago. He was already a heck of a bow shot, sold him a widow I had, in no time he was shooting great out to 25yds or a little more. Thursday he bought a Martin Savanah, #55 off another bud of mine, he had shot the bow once before, shot it better than the widow. He got a shot tonight at 10 steps, drilled a big doe, ran 40 yds and rolled over a bank head over heels another 40, DOA! This was his first trad kill and he was stoked. Now this man has 3 P&Y deer on his wall, all with a bow, but was as excited about this as if it was a big buck. Laughing like a kid at Christmas. I was tickled for him, just wanted to share with you all. He gets on here every day and looks around, maybe he will chime in. He is now a firm believer in Wensell Woodsmans and is glad he sold his Matthews wheelie bow. As he told me, everything is new again.

It is all perspective, when you put more into your archery the more the accomplishment and the thrill.  Let him know from me, ride the thrill and keep at it... it only gets better!

Congrats to him, and his accomplishment!

I didnt get pics guys, he skined an quartered her and iced her down as quick as he could due to hot weather, he was hunting about 45 minutes from me. He said for him, going trad had put the challenge, and most of all the fun back into the hunt for him! I will pass on all your positive replies, tell him to jump in, he might have gotten pics, didnt think to ask him.

Keeping things fresh always adds an element of excitement to what we do.I like those "firsts".

I have done the first with a longbow, recurve, first with a bow I built, first with a bamboo backed bow and will get my first with a selfbow this year.I guess I will do a first with shoot arrows next year with some trade points. When I run out of something new I guess I will just start over again.  :bigsmyl:

Tell him great job from the gang...
I had the same experience although it took me two seasons and almost giving up. If it werent for my brother who doesnt hunt trad I most likley would have but he kept encouraging me.
