Durango, Colorado ?
« on: September 07, 2009, 07:29:00 PM »
I just found out I will have to attend a wedding in Durango next August 28. Do I have any hunting options while I'm out there? It looks like most big game seasons open a week later. Do any of you guys who live out there have any suggestions? It doesn't seem right to go all the way out there and not hunt. Thanks for any help  Greg

Lots of deer and elk hunting around Durango, you sure about the dates?  That is usually about opening weekend.

As Kadbow said, it should be right around opening day of archery deer/elk season.
plenty of public land around there for a guy to hunt in.

Maybe someone could pm you with more specific places for you to hunt while your here?

My only suggestion would to be to make sure you get a steak at the Ore House. Best steak I've ever had in my life. Have fun. Durango is a great place.

great town and excellent elk hunting in San Juan Mts.  TBarM Outfitters is a good guide service if you are not planning a DIY.
"Carpe Carp" ... Seize the fish.

Checked the fish and game website and you guys are right. If everything is the same as this year it should be opening weekend. I was going by what my brother told me. I'll have a lot more options than I thought. Thanks for the advice.  Greg
