northwest forest pass
« on: September 09, 2009, 08:04:00 PM »
I have a free Northwest Forest Pass for Oregon and Washington left over from my hunt this past week. It expires July 2010, I will draw a name on Friday, September 11 and will contact the winner for mailing address. If you are interested just put I'm in on your post  :coffee:  .
If you cut up your wife's french leather purse to make a tab, does that make you a redneck?

Could someone please explain what a forest pass is.
I've lived in the great P.N.W. for 57 years and have never heard of it.

Thanks, John

Please add my name to the mix.  Thank you for thinking of something like that.  Although, if I win I might have to share with Snag AND Oregon Okie:-)

No, the one that comes with your license is for state facilities like boat ramps, etc. A  Northwest Forest Pass is issued by the US Forest Service and is now required to park on many trailheads. Here's what it says on the Forest Service website:

Quote
A Recreation Pass is a pass for the use of many improved trailheads, picnic areas, boat launches and interpretive sites on National Forests throughout Oregon and Washington. Recreation Pass Required signs are posted at participating sites.

Revenues from pass sales go directly to maintaining and improving the trails, land and facilities you own and enjoy.
