Passing the torch and teaching the youth
« on: September 11, 2009, 01:07:00 AM »
The wife and were happy and blessed to be able to teach kids archery at the NWTF "Jakes Day" on Aug 29th. This is my 3rd year doing it and it's been very fun and satisfying each time. It was less than perfect weather that day but we were able to get about 50 kids flinging arrows.
I brought along a few stick bows that I bought/traded from some TradGang members. I wanted as many hands to touch these bows as possible. Good Mojo!
Wish I had more pics, but keeping tabs on young ones with sharp sticks is a full time experience,LOL!

Just one more step please!

Some dude with a stick and string chasing things.

Nice going buddy

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

I'm doing the same thing @ a Ducks Unlimited Greenwing event on the 19th.  Last year was the 1st year they had archery for the kids to shoot. I had them busting balloons on hay beals.  Us big kids were amazed at how much intrest the little kids showed in the archery.  They just kept coming back wanting to shoot more.

Good for you. I will be doing the same tomorrow with a group of youth from our state's National Archery in the School Program that will be taking the next step in the continuim by participating in a mentored hunting program this season.
