Anyone else enjoy reading George D. Stouts post/responses like I do??

Summary: Cheap is good, old is good, I do it my way, I might try your way but I won't like it, want to hear a poem? George is unique and finds ways that will make you think without making you think your stupid. I am a George fan

I always check on the "George" threads. Over the years George has been a great help on my Hoyt questions. I stopped to take a few pics last week on a scouting trip and thought about George and his "walks with a bow threads"... I have been asking him to repost all of his stone wall pics but he must be busy taking other pics because we have not seen any of those cool old stone wall pics again.. LOL

Yes he is humorous and also ridiculously opinionated and old school to the extreme.  

To make fun of others who want to learn and know more about the science and why thing happen in archery is to dicourage future archers in the sport.  The younger and new trad shooters are  fully intrigued by the nuances and minutua of the sport.  

No ding on George, he is welcome to his opinions. He knows a lot more than many of us about the sport.  I just feel that someone of his experience could keep the humor and encourage those who are still trying to find their preferred set up by sharing the why and how of his long experience and wisdom along with his humor.

While I always read and respect simplicity and clarity of his posts, there is - and always should be - room for other opinions. What works for one guy may not be applicable to another.  

Some people believe the greatest days of archery have already passed. I believe that the "good old days" are right now.

George is my kind of guy take him or leave him, he doesn't care. He stands for what he beleives in  

I love his posts, been reading them for years here and elsewhere and will continue to.

Great replies guys and gals.  I know not everyone agrees with everybody but.. Please make sure that any comments are respectful on this topic.  I didn't and would not want to make this any type of bbq.  From what I have read I like the guys outlook on trad.

When you have been into traditional archey as long as George you are entitled to your opinion. Most of us read what George has to say, cherry pick his comments and recommendations, and move on without being insulted by his brashness. There is no doubt in my mind that George loves Traditional Archery and that makes him alright by me. Besides that, he still hunts with the Bear Razorheads as do I. I'd share a campfire with George anytime.

Never met him in person, but I wonder if he is kinda like that grandpa that is ALMOST always right?(that is meant genuinely) Occasionally off the mark, but so seldom no one is gonna' say much.

I have altered equipment, form and attitude in response to posts made by George. All changes thus far have proved positive. If we all took the time to honor and learn from our 'elders' we'd be in a much better society - no doubt in my mind.

Cranky old fart-ness comes from seeing the repeated failures and follies of a generation that doesn't value the lessons you've learned the hard way. I'm only 36 but believe me I feel the early onset. I for one value blunt advice. That being said, George has never struck me as cranky or old-fart-like, in fact, I imagine a very patient teacher who leeds you to your own conclusions and understanding. This quality is a subtle one and often overlooked. I'd be willing to bet many a 'new idea' or inspiration has been had on the insight George's gentle persuasion has afforded.

We should all hope to have as many look upon us favorably as George does. A life thus far very well lived, my friend, and may you continue to illuminate the way for many, many, many years to come. God bless you George.
