Anyone else make History today in Jersey?
« on: September 13, 2009, 12:48:00 PM »
Well today was the first time we were able  to bowhunt on Sunday in Jersey. I managed to get out for a few hours before the chores. Didn't have any luck but it was a good day anyway. Anyone else get out? How did you do?

NC started Sunday hunting on private land this year. I'm not sure if it is only for just archery or all seasons.

Pat,
I called the NC Wildlife office approx. two weeks ago to check if the sunday hunting thing pasted.  Thay told me that I could not hunt on sunday?  I'm confused    .

No need to shout (ALL CAPS).  Especially, when you may not be correct.

Looks like it depends on your "zone".  I checked the NJ regs online.  Below is part of the regs that makes it clear some areas opened 9/12

REGULATION SET #4: ZONES - 2, 16, 27*, 28, 29*, 31, 35*, 47, 63*

* Any antlered deer taken in Zone 27, 29, 35 or 63 must have at least three antler points on one side of the rack.
• Legal hunting hours: 1⁄2 hour before sunrise to 1⁄2 hour after sunset.
• For more details, see Deer Hunting Regulations, page XX.
• Note: Only one antlerless permit, per zone, may be purchased in each permit season. If a hunter purchases an
antlerless permit for more than one zone in a season, the Antlered Buck Permit is valid for a ONE TIME USE in only
ONE of the corresponding zones for that season. Properly licensed hunters are still limited to ONE antlered buck per
season, regardless of the number of antlerless permits purchased.

Fall Bow:
First deer must be antlerless: Sept. 12-Oct. 2, 2009

First deer may be antlered or antlerless: Oct. 3-30, 2009
Season bag limit is unlimited antlerless deer and ONE antlered deer.

REGULATION SET #6: ZONES - 5, 17, 19, 25, 42, 48

• Legal hunting hours: 1⁄2 hour before sunrise to 1⁄2 hour after sunset.
• For more details, see Deer Hunting Regulations, page xx.
• Note: Only one antlerless permit, per zone, may be purchased in each permit season. If a hunter purchases an antlerless permit for
more than one zone in a season, the Antlered Buck Permit is valid for a ONE TIME USE in only ONE of the corresponding zones for
that season. Properly licensed hunters are still limited to ONE antlered buck per season, regardless of the number of antlerless
permits purchased.

Fall Bow:
First deer must be antlerless: Sept. 12-Oct. 2, 2009

First deer may be antlered or antlerless: Oct. 3-30, 2009
Season bag limit is unlimited antlerless deer and ONE antlered deer

Got out this afternoon and saw a bunch.  All of them too far away (closest was about 100 yards and I was up in a tree).  Great to finally get into the woods.  As much as I complained about not being able to hunt on a sunday, I'm glad I was able to take advantage of it.

Curt buy your Jersey License in January . Winter bow all month and then you can use it early season in alot of zones Starting the second Saturday in September. SUNDAY hunting too! Your not that far away are you?  Early season ,regular season then during the rut[ permit bow] you need to buy a ZONE Permit [pick one] and a buck tag to wack a Buck. Good all the way until 6 day firearm starts in December.  bentpole>>>>~~~~~>

Keep after him Larry...nows a good time to ambush him while he's still unaffected by hunting pressure.

I'm gonna keep after him and then slowly move into his area. But we can only take does during the early archery season. Just a couple more weeks to go till I can shoot him Joe.

If I lived in a state that did not allow sunday hunting. I would move to another state.

Skipper    :saywhat:  I hunted  my Buds  private property in Wantage this morning me and Steve, Chicken Chaser . Saw 3 does walk threw at around 80/100 yards and had a small forkhorn about 50 yards. That was it. Nice, cool morning with very few Skeeters.
