How Do You Sharpen Your Broadheads?
«

Many oldtimers would use a single cut file to sharpen heads, and might put a serrated edge on the head. I find this method effective with softer steel, which don't hold a honed edge very long. I have a 10" Nicholson, Black Diamond,Crosscut, wedge shaped file that works great on various heads. Stones, honing stones, oil, diamond stones and ceramic sharpeners work well on harder steel. What works for you?

Once I get the angle I want with a file I use the KME knife sharpener to get a hair popping edge I like.

I use a Spyderco Triangle knife sharpener. It's a bit pricey - $85 (got mine quite a few years ago for only $50), but it is the best sharpener I've ever used and should last a lifetime. Below is a link for it.

KME all the way! Ron is a great guy and makes an awesome product. I just bought one for my father and used it on a Abowyer Brown Bear and I can honestly say my definition of hunting sharp has changed. I used a Lansky prior to that and in comparison its only ok...I will use KME for the rest of my hunting career!

I use the KME Broadhead Sharpener.
I also use to sharpen my heads with a Lansky as IronCreekArcher mentioned. It did a good job but the KME is at least 10X faster as does a better job.
GOOD SHOOTING!

I have been using my Lansky for many years. I can use the clamp system for two blade or two blade w/removeble bleeds.
I also use just the stones to sharpen my Snuffers or WW.

KME broadhead sharpener with japanese water stones finishing with 6000 grit. So sharp you don't want to be in the same room with them

When they're new....I file them a few times to get the proper bevel. Then....I use a $8.61 3" diamond stone to finish them. I had a buddy here last week show me this.....and I'll never go back. Takes about 3 minutes a head.

Jim Castro Jr.,
Is that a picture of one you designed to get the bevel? Are using a stone to finish?
