One last look into the sunset. This is my Dad.

Looks like the bears are in the rut too.

I have had a great hunting season so far. I have been able to hunt with my Dad a lot. Since he is only hunting weekends and I spent the first week huning bison with my friend(the story i told you all the other day) I did not get to hunt elk until this week. I went up late on sunday night. Then set out in the moonlight monday morning. More to come its time for steak.

Come on Randy! Some of us had to stop hunting elk on the 6th and only get a chance at spikes and cows. On with the story....

Randy,
You mean to tell me that there actually are elk in the Bighorns? I thought it was just a PR ploy by Game and Fish.
Let's see some pictures!!!

Well after walking about three miles I found a really nice bull (320 or so)I saw two other hunters on him though so on down the trail I went. Off to the north I heard that famed sound of a bull elk looking for a lady. I had to back track a mile or so and gain about a 600 feet in elivation. The bulls really tuned up there was elk bugling all over the place. I stalked in and saw a few bulls. I knew there was a good bull in there though. I kept looking. I finnaly got close and caught a glimps of him as he chased off another bull. I quickly moved in. he came to me thinking that I was another bull. At 15 yards with his head behind a tree he looked the other way and bugled. I drew to my anchor and loosed my arrow. It flew true to its mark. I got a complete pass through. After a short 60 yards he was down.

I know this is blurry I had to take a picture of a picture with my phone. Having a few memory card problems. I will replace with a good one when I can.
