Better form= longer draw length and starting over
« on: September 25, 2009, 09:39:00 AM »
Well I have finally started settling into a good form. I have been shooting for a few years and was getting pretty good then went compeltely the wrong way.

Well I have gotten into a comfortable, repeatable form and bought some lighter limbs for my horne combo hunter. I increased my draw length from 27 to 29 inches! So my 46 pound bow is now around 50lbs.

I did some paper tuning yesterday and with my arrows cut to 29 inches, YIKES no room left. I am showing weak with 35/55.

I can't wait till I get this figured out so I can finally right it all down and be set!

I came from nothing and I brought it with me.

I went through the same thing. I can't even shoot the first arrows I used because I pull them off the back of the shelf. I can't beleive I shot those. Sounds like you are getting closer to a seeing a huge improvement in your shooting, I did. Good luck with it!

Been there done that.  I was shooting 28" for a long time, and then got a lot more serous about really fine tuning my form this year.  Now after working on my form and figuring out I had a 29 1/4" - 29 1/2" draw I am shooting more consistently.  I was shooting with great accuracy some days, but would have real off days.  Now I am mostly on with the long draw, and when I am off I just pull back farther and I am fine again.  Fortunately my arrows are carbon and my bows liked longer shafts with the heavier inserts and points I was shooting.  About half my shaft are now target arrows setting right up on the shelf and I am just finishing setting up hunting arrows tuned with longer shafts and a little lighter points.
