First Primitive Kill!!
«

I invited Robtatto to a little patch of woods I hunt on the Tennessee River for the weekend. We had a great time. Had plenty of action on every hunt, and lots of tense moments with bowstrings to match.
I took my frist primitive kill on a midday hunt on Sunday. These buggers had been slipping in early every day and I would bump them no matter how early I went in. Rob and I went in at 3 on Saturday which proved still too late. So Sunday we hunted a bedding area early and then slipped into these hardwoods at 10. I was no mre buckled in when four popped out in range but on my right shoulder offering no shot. They slipped off past Rob without a shot. At about 1 pm two more popped out... this time on my left... and very close. I had to shoot sitting down and the deer was five paces from my tree, very steep. The result was a spine shot. The nicely placed arrow in the pic was the coup de grace. Built the bow back in spring and won PA's BOM for May. Almost all materials used were gifted, traded, or clipped from dead turkeys
. Not a monster, but I'm thrilled! Sure enjoyed sharing it with ya, Rob!

Thanks Gerrardo. That's my hiking, hunting, office, liesure, and church shirt. :D Paired with some 20 year old treebark pants that belonged to my Dad, it's a deadly combo. Come to think of it, the headnet and fingerless jersey gloves are mid 80's vintage too. I get butterflies literally every time I put that stuff on.

Alex, kept lookin for this story. Great job that bow looks awesome. I'd scare myself if I laid it down in the leaves. Making meat with homemade gear is a great accomplishment!!

Thanks for a awesome weekend Alex
Can't wait to get back over there at some point!
I managed to get my first shot at a deer from my treestand on Saturday afternoon. Not surprisingly, I missed high
We got to see plenty of game every time we were out. I think the total came to 14 or 15 within bow range (between the 2 of us) over 2 days.
I couldn't be happier for Alex either! The look on his face when I got over to his stand to see his deer was worth the drive over itself

Oh, and regarding Alex's snakey bow; his craftsmanship is utterly superb! The bow is a
LOT
more snakey than it looks in the pictures. Absolutely flawless work!
