Bear Bows and draw length
« on: October 09, 2009, 11:01:00 PM »
I always wanted an older Bear one piece recurve, but not sure if any would handle my 29 1/2in draw. I had a nice Kodiak Hunter 60in at one time, but it stopped dead at 28in.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

59 Kodiaks were available in 64" which would be just right for your longer draw.

Been shooting older Bears all my life. I draw 30 1/2". The ones I hunt with are 60-64". But, I shoot some K-mags and Super 48's for fun.

I was really thinking bout a K mag.
Think it would work? I think Fred had a fairly long draw and if I remember correctly the Kmag was his favorite?

I've had two Bears that didn't like my 30" draw.
A green Kodiak Hunter which although it was 55# @ 28 it was just a dog, and pulled rough from the get go.
The other was an A riser Magnesium TD with 2B green tips.. They hit the wall just over 28 and went to about 5#/in.
Other than that, no problem and that includes KM's and 56" Grizzlys

You may feel increased string angle, or just shooting a bow too heavy, but the K.H. is smooth out to 29 or 30 on most force draw curves.  Every bow has a different feel, but it isn't always stack.

Fred drew 28".  I have a Mag. Takedown, B-riser and #1 limbs, 60" that doesn't show stack until 30", it goes from 3# per inch to 29" then 3.5 to 30".
