AdkKen,Bowspirit,Cyclic-rivers and ron w had a good AM hunt today,3 out 4 saw deer and it was a nice day to be out. No shots but still a good day. Even I saw a deer, which is un-heard of.

I had an exciting afternoon hunt, I had two bucks and a doe all at different times and all under 15 yards all of them caught moment when I was about half drawn. Oh well that's the way it goes, I'm not going to force it, my chance will come.

I dropped the string on a turkey today....but I missed left by about two or three inches. I was aiming at the base of her neck...I let loose and she stood there as the arrow flew passed her. Then the rest of the flock stood there looking at me....and I had left my quiver where I was seated when I called them in, so no second shot. Boy, I got GOOD penetration on the cedar tree though!! It claimed my razorcap, but the arrow survived.
At one point I was less than five yards from a dozen birds, all purring and soft yelping and trying to figure out where the other turkey(me) went.

Awesome afternoon.

(I spent the day raking leaves.   :(   The town vacume truck is due any day now)
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

Going out on Tuesday, to much to do today. Gonna give it a hard AM sit and see whats going on. The bit cooler mournings should be good for some deer movement...I hope!!!

I just got back from an afternoon hunt on state land. I saw a plethora of squirrels, heard a couple run away from the down wind side, and heard the yotes singing to the moon. Not a single deer sighted.

Gonna give it a try on Long Island Tuesday. My cousin has been gettin' alot of action in the Speonk area. Wish me luck......    Hunting the sandy flatlands of The Hamptons should be interesting.

Deer are starting to move--unfortunately, the moon is full. Lot of rutting will take place at night, I fear. This next cold snap should really get things going!

Ron it's only Mourning if you let it get you down!   ;)  I find it hard to mourn while hunting, not saying it can't happen but...

Good luck. I had a great time Sunday, lets do it again.

Sorry about your Doe Frederick, it can happen to all of us.

The rut will turn on any day now like a switch.  bucks are starting to move and make scrapes.  Had a friend watch an eight chase off a six.
Relax,

Well I hunted in Cuba with a couple friends over the weekend and got a nice doe. The shot was 15 yds and quartering away a little . The blood trail was awesome . Here is a pic.

Nice Doe Andrew!  You look surprised in the pic, I'm sure she was a bit more surprised when she felt the prick on her side.
