incorrect draw length spells problems
« on: October 17, 2009, 09:24:00 PM »
I Have a previous post some of the member here I know get tired of seeing the same topics over and over. i am looking for help.  The other topic was
called tuning mistake.  i spent all day getting all my facts straight.  Here goes I am having lots of tuning problems. A year ago before i ordered my bow I was told i have a 27 inch draw. I come to find out my draw is actually 25 and 1/4.
My currrent set up is a bob lee 60inch 52 pounds at 27 inches.  Fast flight string 1/8 inch positive center cut.  I shoot 3 finger under.  Looking for shaft advice.  Alum/carbon  I have various weight tips to try.  I have target panic now.  i am going to put the bow down for 2 weeks
and start over.  I am guessing at my draw lenght 25 1/4 is actually47lbs.  i will put it on a scale to confirm.  my wifes say" i am an excessive compulsive FREEK" .LOL  I will take any suggestions because i believe all the shafts i have I am over spined.  1913, 1916, 2016, 2013! thankyou ahead of time for any help you can be to me. PS I have alot of Alum. for the scrap pile.

Chub,
Have you tried Stu Miller Dynamic Spine Calculator? Do a search. I used it to get me close on my shaft selection, then fine tuned from there.
Your bow is cut 1/8 past center, correct? If yes, using your numbers the 1913 shafts cut 28" with 145 up front should be about right.
Or 1916 shaft cut 27 3/4" with 200 up front.
Start long only cut one or two shafts at a time, taking off 1/2 to 3/4" per cut.

Once more, there is a post on The Shooter's Form, title Interactive Spine Chart vs Spine Selector, with two links to Easton charts. The first may be especially helpful. The date of the post was 10/4/09.

Start with the 1916's with a heavy tip weight... Let us know how they fly...

Feel free to PM with any questions.  Perfect arrow flight is everything. Accept NOTHING less!

Chub, Where in PA are you, if you are close enough I'd be willing to help you along with the tuning process. I am in Morgantown Pa about 50 miles north west of Philly. Let me know if I can help. Ed

buddy the 1916 and 2016 all should work with the right weight of head up front. i have a 26" draw and i use 2016 cut to 28" with a 125grn head up front off a cut to centre bow at 45 pounds and they fly real nice. i can also shoot 1916 out of the same bow along with axis 500.
