Where are Bear bows manufactured?
« on: October 18, 2009, 01:05:00 AM »
Hello,
Can anyone tell me where Bear bows are currently made? A friend and I were both interested in Bear Montanas, and a guy at the archery shop where we were said "You don't want those -  Bear moved production of all their bows to China..."

Please say it isn't so! I know Bear had moved down to Florida in the late 70's and thought they were still making their bows there... Anyone know?

They're owned by Escalade Sports I believe.  The Bear compounds are made in Evansville Ind. So I would assume the recurves may be also

Well, to "contact Bear Archery" is an Evansville Address.

For "Bow Repairs" is a Gainsville Address.

Who knows!?

I bought an '07 K-mag at the pro-shop in Gainesville (about 30 minutes up the road for me), and the factory was operating then, I don't know if they were manufacturing or repairing, but it was busy at the time.
Haven't been there since '07 though.

Bear Manf. is Located in Gainesville, FL.  all of the adult and youth metal riser compunds are made in the factory there.  All of the Traditional wood and fiberglass Bear Brand bows are made same place. I just saw a rack of about 50 Montana's yesterday ready for spray finish, assorted other models too.   The youth composite compounds & recurve,(the black and camo ones) and the Ragim (3 piece) recurve and the all fiberglass youth bows are made overseas. The Ragim is Italian made I believe.  Thats the way it is for sure. Trust me.
No bows are made in Evansville.  Evansville offices take the customer service calls, all Bows are repaired in Gainesville.
Go Afield wih bow and arrow  shoot and enjoy archery !!

Thank you for all the replies - I'm happy to hear this. I like the Montanas and a nice bow is a nice bow regardless of where it is made, but I just like to support our economy whenever possible and try to help keep jobs here by buying American.
