Good evening
« on: October 25, 2009, 10:20:00 PM »
Had this guy come up and get directly under me tonight. I love my home made scent killer spray. He had no idea I had just climbed this tree. I always spray down my tree steps and incoming path when entering a stand.

I no longer have a buck tag so I didn't care if the camera flash scared him off or not. He did notice the red light when the camera was focusing on him and he looked up. He didn't seem to mind it or pay any attention to the flash.

Don't mind at all Guy. I spray everything I take in with me especially my knee high rubber boots. Here it is. It's cheap and it makes a lot.

Ingredients:

16 oz. (2 cups) hydrogen peroxide, 3% solution (normal type found in drug stores)

16 oz. (2 cups) distilled water

1/4 cup baking soda

1 oz. unscented shampoo

Note: remember 32 oz. = 1 quart; expand ingredient amounts proportionately for larger amount of end product.

Directions:

(1) Mix ingredients in large bowl so baking soda dissolves (water, then peroxide, then baking soda, then soap).

(2) Pour into clean 1 gal. plastic milk jug (easily found in most homes). Note: do not shake!

(3) Let sit at moderate temperature for several days until chemical reaction settles down. Note: do not leave in tightly sealed container (use milk jug with snap-on cap)!

(4) Pour prepared mixture into spray bottle(s) of your choosing.

A few things to ponder on this stuff.
Make sure spray bottles are not clear or keep them out of sunlight.
Sunlight will break down the peroxide into water. The peroxide is in this solution to kill and prevent bacteria that creates odor.

The baking soda traps and absorbs odor molecules.

The unscented soap is a binding agent that makes the solution stick to what you spray in on.

Awesome pix.

I bet that buck has nightmares, and his neck is sore from looking up.

The squirrel knows how much arrows cost.

The buck photos got a "WOW" from everyone here.

Thanks.

Great pics TJ. But one of your comments is troubling me. The one about not having a buck tag left! Maybe I missed it, but where is the pics and story of the one you shot? Don't be holding out on us now.

Oh I'm not Mike, I came in the house that September night/morning with blood on my hands and couldn't share it fast enough with you guys. Here's the link to the hero shots. I shot this one the second evening of our Kentucky season on September 6th so now I'm destined to taking them with my camera (not complaining).
