String question
« on: October 29, 2009, 10:58:00 AM »
I did some searching, and may have found my answer, but am unsure. I have a 35# recurve, and that is the only wording, or numbers on the bow. I don't even know who made it. I want to buy a new string for it, and that lead me to my searching.

Do I measure the unstrung bow from string nocking point, to nocking point in a straight line, or along the curves of the bow?

And I believe I need a string 4" shorter than a measurement I come up with....correct?

Take a tape measure and measure from the tip following the curves of the limbs along the front of the riser to the other tip for your AMO length....On a recurve you need a string 4 inches shorter than AMO length....go with a B-50 dacron string since you don't know much about the bow....put about 10-12 twists in the string....that should get you close
