Had a couple of my buddies in the local Mennonite community come by, they each brought their brothers along. I had gotten these two guys into trad in late summer, coached them several times, and both had already taken 2 deer each. Since then they have sold their compuonds, bought a bunch of wensel woodsmans and are having a ball, have killed squirrels, groundhogs and one a raccoon. The younger guys just couldnt stand seeing them having all the fun, and both ended up leaving with a recurve each. I gave them a deal on some bows I had gotten off here, less than I had in them, made new strings and I tuned them up, put some wool puffs in the string, made them each a tab and coached them for about an hour. Both were shooting paper plate size groups at 20 yards, even with them throwing a shot now and then. These guys are pretty methodical with any bow, had good form and were showing it pretty quick. One had his little boy, about 6 and he had a sad look on his face, since he didnt have a bow. I looked around in my shop, and in the back corner found and old bear 15# solid glass bow with the rubber grip and a serviceable string. When I gave him this and 3 kids arrows he lit up like a Christmas tree. I told him to go home and show those other fellers how to shoot. He looked at me real serious and said "Ill try". Everyone had a laugh. Before they left, they asked me to keep my eyes open for a couple of more bows, had some cousins that were interested in getting into trad. Now that is just about as good as getting a deer to me. Just thought I would share.
