traditional life

i'd like to hear from all of you how traditional archery has helped you other than just hunting.as in how have you integrated traditional archery and what you have absorbed from it into your life in general.per say your job,married and family life,perception of other people etc.myself..i have grown in leaps and bounds since becoming a traditional archer.i used to be a self centered person,never gave a damn about other peoples opinions or feelings,never gave a dime to charities.life changes us,some for the good some not.i spent ten years of my life as a buisness owner and drank it under.am i a drunk? guess i was for ten years anyway.not a drop in eleven years now.i used to smirk at people in need and mutter get a job or some other smart ass remark.now i open up my heart and try and help in any way i can.i can only conclude that it came from the seed planted in my soul by an old trad shooter long gone.jerry was his name.he taught me a lot more than traditional shooting i guess.ok boys and girls lets hear your stories of how trad shooting integrates into your life other than hunting.

Traditional archery was first time I really challenged myself in a long time.  Picking up a recurve bow was the first thing I had done in 10 or so years where I was terrified that I might fail.  I figured it would be 'too hard' or I would not be 'good enough' to get the hang of it.  Well, I am getting the hang of it. Traditional archery has brought me more confidence and proved to me that anything is possible with enough effort.  I still have a lot to learn and that's why I'm on this site to listen to you old timers

Maybe its not just being traditional, but as we get older we, for the lack of better words, grow up, mature, or how ever you what to say it.Plus most of the people I have met thru Trad archery are just a different breed of cat. Most will help in any way they can and most will never ask for anything in return.

I use to be fast paced, all about what I'm gonna get,put every one else on the back burner,and buy all the best high tech gear. Now I make my own stuff and care more for other people I give a lot more to others,take more time for the family,teach my kids the traditional way,I slowed down and payed more attention to what goes on around me.Realized that life comes around once and you have to make the most of it.And you won't do that without family and friends.I appreciate being given the opportunity to find my inner self and to be able to pass it along to future generations.Thanks for asking

i think you are correct ron.we meet a completely different crowd,more down to earth folks i think.i used to have certain perceptions about trad shooters when i was heavy into competition shooting with a compound.what a waste of time i thought.turns out i was the one wasting my time as my fever for compounds dwindled and i turned to traditional archery.

I think the most significant benefit has been the people I have met through traditional archery, many of whom I met through this site. The Tradgang is truly an amazing group of people.
