A great afternoon shooting
« on: November 08, 2009, 07:11:00 PM »
Graybeard and I went out this afternoon to field test two new bows, my Black Swan longbow, and his new Leon Stewart recurve.

The Black Swan is a great little bow, 35#@28" with carbon limbs and a black walnut riser.  The Stewart recurve that Graybeard was shooting - he just picked it up on Friday - is an absolute work of art; a predominantly cocobolo riser, yew limbs with beautifully figured diamond back skins on the back of the limbs.

They both seemed to shoot pretty well too:

The arrows on the left are mine, those on the right are his - and one of his was through one of mine.  That's a very minor price to pay.  We were shooting from 16 or 17 yards away and about 10 yards apart.  We had some other good targets but this one really made the afternoon.

Why is shooting with friends so much fun?

Nice grouping by the way!

Thanks, Billy, but you know you're going to have some casualties when you go after those burlap turkeys.

That's pretty good shooting guys, but bad things can happen when you cross the streams.    :D      :readit:
