We need to give thanks
« on: November 14, 2009, 08:00:00 PM »
I must say that when hunting season comes around the look in my wife's eyes is not always a happy one, for she is well aware of the preparation the practicing and the laying awake at night thinking of how I can improve my hunting abilities. Which all means less time for her and yet she always says good luck and how did you do when coming and going. It takes a special kinda person to know that all we are gonna think about during the season is hunting and we will all put some of our responsibilities off to go hunting, with this in mind they are still their doing what is needed and even taking up our slack. So I say this, BEHIND EVERY HUNTER IS A GOOD WOMAN AND I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THEM FOR MAKING HUNTING POSSIBLE FOR US ALL.
PS. you single guys can laugh now but just wait you will see.

Great post. No doubt about it. I have a good one. She not only hunts every now and then, but also gets up every morning, cooks my breakfast, packs my lunch and sends me off on my merry way. PLUS.....she takes over all of my household chores during the bow season.   :D

Good ones are one in a million and I hit the jackpot.    :)

I agree too.  I need to get mine some flowers tomorrow just to remind her that she is still special.

Mine even takes note and reports the deer she sees on her way to work. She goes stumping with me and takes pics. Yep she's alright.

Had the great fortune of meeting the right woman over 40 years ago, and she decided to stay with me. She rather enjoys my hunting stories/blunders, and doesn't seem to mind having dead animal heads around the house. Hopefully she will put up with me for a few more years.

This year my wife is wondering IF I'm going to the woods at all-no meat yet but 6 weeks to go.29 years and has a better understanding of what hunting means to me that at the beginning. Thank goodness she has stood true all these falls-the rest of the year is hers.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

My wife could give 2hoots about hunting, but she is always supportive of my hunting. She will double check to make sure the alarm is set for the time I want to get up, she asks how my day went and is genuinly excited for me when I get something. She just smiles when she watches me tinker with all my archery gear, makes her happy to see me doing something that makes me happy.  Suppose she figures there are a lot worse things I could be obsessed with. I found a gem!

umm....While I agree with you guys; Killie may be coming along shortly and telling us to remember 'it ain't just wives, it's spouses !!

I know, usually; when the lady hunts so does the guy but; ......

I met a couple who use to take turns; he'd hunt while she sat with the baby; then she'd hunt...

My buddy spent 20k to go to british columbia for three weeks this fall. He was home for three more weeks and left for his annual bowhunt in colorado for elk for another two weeks. Then i see his younger brother the other day at the sporting goods store with his wife and 2 yr old and hes buying boots to go to saskatchewan for 2 wks. This stuff is really starting to piss me off
