Great Book! Even better the second time read. A lot of you probably will agree how much our values are exactly the same.

I'm lookin forward to Barry's book- he's obviously a better hunter as he got one this year and Gene didn't. Course there's always the second Iowa season. Good luck Gene.

Marty... Marty... you need to ask Santa for a new canoe paddle this Christmas to stir things up. BW

My paddle works just fine Barry, could use your book though, Gene's was such an easy read-I'm finished. Hope yours is longer.

I am back home for a while now that the Iowa gunners are doing their thing. We can't handicap ourselves with bows during Iowa gun season so I have two weeks to catch up. I want to thank everyone for the nice comments on the book and apologize for the delays. Once its in the printers hands, we're at their mercy. I have had a lot of fun so far this season and passed up many nice bucks waiting for the right one. Marty, do I have to post a photo of the biggest I let walk (twice)?

Ryan: They've finally got all the high-tech computer problems fixed and have promised me delivery right around New Year's Day. Just in time for people to finish up reading Gene's. If you're a slow reader mine just might get you through until spring turkey season. 8^) BW

Both books will become part of my most treasured bowhunting items.  Gene's was a great read and I'm sure Barry's will be just as good.

Sure did like Gene's book.  If you've read Come November, you've got the gist of the first half but the cool thing is, he's not to stubborn to say everything he wrote in the past is still gospel.  Lots of revisions on past theories and sort of mental editing of what is important to look for.  The second half is awesome!  Just some great stories, insights and armchair conversation about archery, hunting and the world in general that evidently takes YEARS to figure out.  (Gene's a lot older than I am....)   :bigsmyl:
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Go ahead and post the photo Gene, it will prove the insanity case that Donna is building! Don't forget my quote when I saw the picture!

Marty, I know you can hold your own with the boys, but Gene has some pretty rough video in his possession...

Gene, is this the one that needs another year before he is ripe?

What was he, 12 yards and getting ready for a nap?

Steve-O, Those video's were misses on purpose! See what I mean- what man in his right mind would pass up that buck! He has lost it. I told him it was bein in a bar and Bo Derek in her prime was coming on to him and he said he was busy cause there might be a better looking woman showing up later!!!!

Seriously, I'm proud of Gene for passing him up (on film). Not many guys would let this buck walk at under 15 yards. This is what a world class whitetail looks like when he's 3 1/2 years old. A symmetrical 6x6 in his teenage years is what dreams are made of. Sweet dreams to all. BW

I just hope he had the camera's image stabalizer turned on! Ha!  The season isn't over, but he has had a great one so far.... and you too Barry. I hope one day we all get to hunt as much as you guys get to. But, until then, just keep sharing the stories!

Marty--

If we had Jayne Mansfield, Sophia Loren, and Raquel Welch waiting in the cafe less than 40 yards down the street, Bo Derek at the bar would be a little easier to pass up

I like that, a lot... My esteem of Gene just went up a notch, like the man needs my approval, lol...  Passing up a nice buck like that is commendable.  I find myself wanting to pass on deer that I would have killed without a second thought 20 years back...  Let 'em grow, the sign of a mature bowhunter. And I mean that in a most flattering way..
