I had a bow refinished by a bowyer.Upon receiveing it I found a chip on an edge 1/8 wide x 1/2" long. The refinishing job cost me $230.My question is...should the chip be repaired, or the bow refinished. Please dont ask what bow or bowyer tho different.THANK YOU.

Any chance that the damage happened during shipping?

Absolutely not.Was in a cas wrapped in bubblewrap then boxed. Not concerned how it got there.Could have not been noticed b4 shipped.Should I expect the bowyer to just repair the chip, or should I expect the bow to be refinished.I feel that if I except the bow repaired, that, that is what I paid $230 for,a repaired bow.Am I wrong for feeling this way??

Pete...send the bow back to get completely repaired and refinished. You paid good money for a service and should get the results.

Send it back. That's not what you paid for.

I would call him up tell him what the problem is, and then send it back to him. 230.00 is to much money to give out for something you are not happy with. IMO

Hard to say how it might have happened, but I would sure give him the benefit of the doubt and send it back. If he is like every other bowyer I have ever met I'm sure he would want a chance to make it right!
Give him a call first and then send it back.

I agree with Whip. At least give him the opportunity to know what's going on and hopefully he will make it right for you.

I agree too. Call him and let him know what is wrong with it. I would not wait to long. Then it might be on you. I would not shoot it. Most shops will make it right. I would call and then send it back. they are going to want to see it.
Good luck and let us know the outcome

I agree with Whip and George. Tell the bowyer, give him the opportunity to make it right, and I'm betting he will.

Bowyer should refinish it for you especially if you've just spent $230. Call & explain your concern and talk it out with him.
