New Twist on Rattling
«

At least new to me. While on the internet searching for antlers I came across this site that says that deer can tell the difference between two antlers clashing vs two deer clashing in battle. So he decided to manufacture some artificial set of horns that have two antlers attached to each side so you would have 4 antlers instead of 2
Here is his web site.
http://www.rattlingantlers.com/index.php?seed=rattling-horns&gclid=CMmwk8zQmp4CFRtY2godEFKFlw
I decided to copy his idea but with two set of real antlers. Here is pic of mine. I must say I was impressed with the sound of 4 antlers vs 2 antlers. I think this idea makes good sense.

Twice the bulk, half the sense. 8^). One of the newest marketing ploys that is being used to sell a product to people with enough disposable income, and a mindset to buy into it.
Did they discuss this with the deer? Do they have an ungulate informant on the loose? No..."It's a foam finger....it's a can koozie...it's a...STAAAAAAMP!!!!.....FOOZIE!"
Man you have to love American ingenuity and the ability to market a product. 8^). Love the tape job, by the way. *^). "Tailgate tested....tailgate approved!"

been seeing the same thing on TV for a few weeks. They say half a rack fight is Good, but the deer know better. So some company came out with the quad-rack ( I think that's the name they are using )rattling rack.

I felt skeptical to about the sound when I first read it. But the sound on my two antlers is extremely better than the sound of just using two antlers.
I wouldn't sell it so short just yet.
I say try it if you got a couple of pair of antlers

Sorry I meant to say the sound on the 4 antlers is extremely better than the sound of just using two antlers.

Last week my bud jim Hamm rattled in 7 bucks for me in three sits with only two antlers. Just imagine how we would have done with four antlers!

It's a big enough pain carrying around two! I'll keep sounding like two one-horned bucks fighting.

freefeet, you may be on to something. How about the whole shoulder mount? Two guys could just run at each other while holding them...

Freefeet I saw a guy many years ago rattling with two skulls antlers on. He told me he had good luck using this method.

I say try it. Some may scoff, but if it works you can PM me.
It's possible that it's a gimmick, but as long as you made it yourself and you're not out any money, then who cares. Personally, I can see the logic behind it....but I try to keep an open mind.

There was an article on this in the last TBM. It was about using two sets of antlers being hung down from a tree stand and shaken to produce the sound of two deer fighting on the ground.

Shakeyslim, there's lots of dumber things out there. Trying to smell like dirt, for instance.
I don't doubt that the 4 antlers work, I just think it's unnecessary and designed to sell something.

Kennym, I sure will. This did not cost me anything. Although I am an old timer, I am never to old to learn something knew. Like I said the sound using the 4 antlers is a tremendous improvement to the sound of just 2 antlers. I have to believe that this sound improvement will work better on calling in a buck in rut.
