Don't fret if the first one isn't perfect.  If it doesn't come flying apart then it is great!

The key to remember is twist one way, wrap the other.

after a while you be doing fine, knowing how and when to fudge on the length of the jig based on the width of the bow limbs that need a bigger loop

Dacron can be frustrating!  But if you take your time you can twist strings…just as Larry stated.  My first one looks like death warmed over and then deep-fried!  But I have built a lot since then.

Dacron wants to fight you the whole way through the process…it has a lot of wax and if your hands start to get hot and sweaty they’ll make the bundles slippery.  It doesn’t want to stay the way you twisted it so keep a good grasp on what you have twisted as you make the loops and as you fade the strands out after you fold it over.  Keep your cool and make sure you get some sort of very sticky wax.

It can be done!

I almost forgot...

Some of the things I found acceptable while learning to build strings:

It's totally fine to curse while learning!
Feel free to burn the messed up strings, it will make you feel better (really)!  :readit:

You will get better with time…build everyday if you can!
