String length?
« on: November 26, 2009, 07:29:00 PM »
I have a 66" Black Hawk long bow and was wondering how long I should make a new string?  The bow was given to me without any string.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

For long bows, you should measure along the back of the bow from nock, to nock.  Generally the string should be about 3" shorter than the bow length.

String it and check brace height.  If it is braced too high then twist the string to unwind it a bit,  If the brace height is too low, then tighten the string up a bit by winding it tighter. This should be done before the serving is applied to the string.
