West Texas Mule Deer
« on: December 06, 2009, 05:20:00 PM »
I went out west to hunt with my buddy Dean Titsworth this weekend. The first afternoon I had a Mule deer come in only to spin around and leave. Right at dark he came back. 12 yards broad side just like we like it. He made it 50 yards. This morning I smacked a doe at 15 yards that fell in sight.
This evening I had a 160" 11 point that came within 15 yards of me but never offerd a shot. He was hanging around at 25 and 30 yards for 20 minutes. I drew on him a couple of times only to let down. It just never felt right
all in all it was a great weekend.

Ha ha! George is great!

As always Buff, when an animal gets within your comfortable shooting range they are as good as dead. Congratulations buddy!   :clapper:

They both looked like heart shots am I correct?

Man those West Texas deer are JUMPY.  Good job.  I see why a person would aim low.

you are correct. I wish the BIG whitetail would have give me a better shot. It is one of those things that kinda haunts a fellow. Wondering if I should have went on and forced the shot.

Nah… don’t second guess yourself. You had a great hunt, took home a couple of beautiful deer, had some training time with George, shot some more video to add to you hunting memories library and I’m sure you had a outstanding time in camp. This equals a complete success in my book…you did good.    I applaud you for not taking a shot that you were unsure of. This kind of restraint helps protect the image of all hunters.    :clapper:

Doesn't look like a texas heart shot to me.  :-)

Maybe it was the snow in Texas that threw you off.

Well done Buff!  Congrats.  And thanks.

Good Shooting Buff!  Always enjoy your videos!  I especially like the ones where it shows you drawing back that huge Silver Flame right before the shot!!
