D-97 string material

Who makes it?  Are there rules of thumb about what bows to use it with etc.  Is it more like fastflight or B-50 in terms of it being safe to use on older bows?

BCY makes it (www.bcyfibers.com).  It's the same material as original Fast Flight, just a higher grade (Dyneema 75 vs. Dyneema 65)and a larger strand diameter.

D97 is one of my favorite string materials,but I only use it on bows that are able to handle low stretch strings.On older bows not rated for it,I like to use dacron on them.

Nobody knows what is safe for older bows; no one has done a study by using it on older models.  Except for me, that is.  I've had it on my 67 Shakespeare Necedah for about six months now with no ill effect.  450+ that is.  I also have a 61 Bear Polar that I'm using TS1 on with no ill-effect.   I think that it's more of an issue with the string notch...it must be smooth all around and overlayed.  Everyone says it's not recommended, but they never really try it.  That's something you would have to take on yourself.  And, NO....I'm not telling you to try it.  I'm telling you I'm using it and it is working well on these two bows.  The Necedah has had a lot of arrows (over 1000 at least) run through it and it's still doing very well.

Like George, I also have D97 on a non-fast flight bow. I don't have as many arrows through it as he has, but I have seen no ill effects. I have the loops padded with B50 and served with yarn though. If you choose to use it on a bow designed for dacron, you are on your own as far as warranty goes, if that is a factor. My bow and George's are old enough that we are the warranty.

Like George I have a 1959 Grizzly that has been used exclusively with D 97 for 6 months, and can't say there has been any stage. Would I put it on a 1959 Kodiak-No way; not yet! The Grizzly is just an experiment.
