String Question B-50 - B-500
« on: December 12, 2009, 03:57:00 PM »
I make my own strings. I usually use D-97 but still ocassionally use B-50 on my older bows. I want to put a material order in with BCY and was considering getting some B-500.

Would it be OK to mix a string using a bundle of B-500 with B-50?
Are the diameters different?
Are the strings different in strength?

Any opinions of the plus/minus of each or why use one over the other?

Thanks,
Dave

They seem to have a different ratio of stretch/creep.  I wouldn't mix the two myself.

I'm glad that you asked the question. I just started making my own strings and had wondered the same thing.
