Great trophy room and awesome trophys to boot.

Denny, just curious, what have you got behind that pine? Did you use 3/4 or 1" plywood behind it all so you did not have to lookin for studs all the time. I've got a room to finish soon and was just wondering. For the big one's like buffalo, eland moose etc I like to use a 3/8 lag or bigger in some cases. My taxidermist is big in favour of 1" behind whatever.

Very nice Denny. Good motivation for the bowflex and keeping stong enough to pull those heavy longbows. Computer tuned to Tradgang too. Thanks for sharing.

Ian,
That is a piebald whitetail, I believe.  It's just a color variation that occurs.

Denny,
Definitely a beutiful trophy room with plenty of great memories to relive.  I know that I can sit in my house, look around at the critters, and daydream about past adventures.  Beats the heck out of TV.  Brady

Denny, is there one animal that has extra special meaning to you?

Most excellent Denny.  Wish I had that ability. I sure do enjoy just sitting and watching and dreaming in places like that.  A couple favorites of mine...in a bar in Baudette MN, there is a very large moose, mounted very well and hung low enough so that you can gaze at it and just let your mind wander as to what happened and where that moose has been.  Another...a grizzly mount formerly in a US Attorney's office.  It was mounted in a natural setting, on all fours, and with no sneer or teeth showing. If you walked up and looked it straight in the eyes, from just a few feet away, you cannot HELP but feel the hair on your neck just go straight up.
Thanks Denny

Killdeer, That's a zebra skull How do you know what a horse skull looks like?  :)

Nakohe, Hey my wife has her trophys hanging in the dining room. Really!

Shifting Shadow, They are all special, but one does stand out. It's not in the room; it is the first doe I shot with a recurve at 13.

Thanks everyone.  :)

Hunt it, We installed 2x4 horizontal blocking between the studs on 32" centers. There isn't one splice in any of the boards. I hit a stud for the water buffalo.  :)

Thanks, Rich. Got him 5 years ago in Mason county Texas. Free range no high fence. When we got the lease there were not many quality bucks. We started manageing and got him 4 years later. I got off of the lease last year and deer were still getting better. Two 11 points and several nice eights. The best part is it is only 350 acres, and all neighbors are low fence also.

Start a new one this year with exotics on it.
