I have maybe a  stupid ? If I fill a carbon arrow with beach sand which it fine grain sand on the jersey coast would it work to add weight evenly throughout the arrow.Just a what if type I'm bored question.      :smileystooges:    :knothead:

Looking for a 2000 grain arrow eh?  The first two shots would pack the sand forward, and after that it would move a little on each shot.  Not a very good idea, unless you are undersea shooting 8^).

I have alot of friends that put 1/4" rope inside shafts.  I have shot them and really like them.  Try some of them.

I thought someone was addressing me so I clicked on the thread.
My mistake.

I was talking to a bow salesman about adding weight to an arrow in a local sporting goods store a couple of months ago. Said he filled his arrow with salt or sand-  don't remember which. He said he shot a real skinny arrow.

Or maybe you could counteract that effect if you filled it halfway with east coast sand and halfway with west coast sand...  :smileystooges:

find a metal tube or make one that will slide inside the arrow shaft, fill it with lead shot then melt it. you can weigh out the shot first, then when it cools smear some epoxy on it and shove it inside the shaft behind a insert, brass if you want more weight.

tradtusker

Iv tried that but it will do all george said it will and you have a 1000+ gr arrow
iv also tried ground coffee    :knothead:   and its not he way to go. Unless you want a brew out hunting .

iv had better results with rope, and 4mm black drip irrigation pipe. fits perfect inside.

I would refer you to a number of threads on FOC and the report by Dr. Ashby. You can add weight to cedar, aluminum and carbon, but the weight should be forward of center.  Filling a shaft would defeat that objective, but it might make a good fish arrow.

rastaman west coast is to brown and grainy.East coast sand will get into places you don't want sand!.This is what happens when you have to much time on your hands at work the mind wonders in odd directions.

I have actually thought about something like that-----like a hammer effect.
