New Bowhunting DVD
« on: December 15, 2009, 11:14:00 PM »
I just watched the fantastic archery, and bowhunting DVD Bowhunting Reflections.  I applaud the bowhunting scenes that show animals hunted on even terms.  Along with Primal Dreams my new best video.  Bowhunting Reflections will have you saying I'm proud to be a bowhunter.  Could be used as a great educational tool.

I have watched Primal Dreams only twice but have watched Steve Gorr's Bowhunting Reflections about a dozen times.  It is that good.

Steve also took a couple Pronghorns with the trad bow this past hunting season which will be included in his next video.

You are right Blackhawk. The first antelope that I hit fell on the spot and I could see the blood pumping were the shaft entered so I didn't think it was a spine shot. The arrow just looked lower than that . But as you know it was a spine shot. That is the 4 th animal that I hit that did not travel three yards. Kustom King Archery picked up a box of Bowhunting Reflections last week, also Raptor Archery.

One of the best DVDs I have seen yet, just to watch Fred and Steve sharing their experiences is great , then to watch Steve stalk a buck bedded in the cattails is worth the price of the DVD alone.
But throw in Chris and Steve hunting in Africa as well as Steve stalking elk and stump shooting with Fred , you cant beat this film, a must see and a good one to give to a hunting buddy for Christmas.

I loved that dvd, can't wait for the next one. No high fiving, fist pumping or hollering. Just class and respect for the animals.

Has anyone watched Bowhunting Reflections more than three times in one week?  I need to know if I am a fanatic.  Another question I have after going over this video is how many shots did it take Steve to split Fred's arrow?  Chris Hills 45 yard 3-D elk target shot was a thing of beauty! The video's ending 50 yard shot at the lion with the longbow? I'm just wondering if I need to get out & start shooting at my bales?

Well I filmed Chris on several of the shots that were used in the DVD like the two bighorn sheep shots at the archery shoot. He never had to take a second shot any time that I was behind the camera. The elk shot was 45 to 50 yards and he drilled it.

Steve broke the arrow on the first try. I missed it twice. I don't think any of the shots were more than one take. I shot the sheep twice but I think he used both shots. Steve was shooting his longbow on the lion so I don't think that shot was 50yds maybe only 40 something with his recurve we might have backed him up to 50. Glad you liked it I had fun working with Steve he is great at editing. Although he did make me look a little fat.LOL

I just have to tell people what caliber of person Steve is...
After watching the dvd, I contacted Steve to inquire about the shooting tab he uses and where to get one. He said that he makes them and would be happy to make me one, about a week later, a custom made tab shows up in the mail for me.
A truely great guy, thanks Steve!

Shortly after the DVD was completed, Chris took a nice 5X5 elk in Washington state sending his arrow straight through the top of the heart.

However, it was a 20-25 yard shot, not a 45 yard shot (even though he most likely would have made it.)

Blackhawk thanks for not mentioning the blown shot at 18 yds a couple days before, nobody should know about that.
