Bow Hospital Is Open
« on: December 16, 2009, 01:55:00 PM »
As many of you know, I recently have taken over the Bow Hospital portion of Belcher Bows.  Jim and Sandra purchased Sky Archery, and have been so busy with that venture that they could no longer devote the time needed to the Bow Hospital.

A trip to Michigan a couple of weeks ago brought a trailer full of additional equipment for my shop.  I have spent the past couple of weeks constructing a spray booth and rearranging space to accomodate everything.  I am finally ready to go.

I still have some work to be done, but the shop is fully operational and now open for business.  I thought I would give you a little tour of what I have been up to.....

Welcome!

Just like at the doctors office, the first order of business is to weigh in...

The Cosmetic Surgery Department

The Recovery Room

Due to the limits of my shop space I made the spray booth a three sided affair with a moveable back wall.  While spraying it is fully enclosed and ventilated to keep the finish dust free, yet the temporary wall folds down and out of the way when not in use.

I have a Leon Stewart Longbow, 68 inches that needs to be refinished.  Is that something you can complete, and if so, what is a ball park charge for something of that nature?

Bob, There is a price list on my website
 http://www.prairietrad.com/page30.html

A basic refinish job is typically $100 for a standard flat finish, and the bow will look good as new when it is done.

The biggest portion of the Bow Hospital work is weight reduction and refinishing.  I can also do repairs, replace tips and overlays, and reshape grips depending on the bow.  If you have any questions on a particular bow and what might be able to be done just give me a call.

Hunting was hazardous, but at least it guaranteed the freedom of the individual.

There is no doubt that the onset of farming saw the end of leasure for the majority of people, who were destined to toil in the fields.

I refinished my Hill once. Learned much but mostly learned I don't want to refinish a bow. The experience makes a $100 sound cheap to me. LOL. Nice organized shop. Now to keep it that way...

Great looking shop and set up for bow hospital Joe! If you are looking for bow refinish or repair, better call Joe soon - he's bound to get swamped this winter.
